I can’t say that I have been a big fan of Katy Perry. She uses too much of that Euro techno beat. I know a lot of people like it but I’m not really into all that disco/rave stuff.
Even so I find I really enjoy watching and listening to a few of her videos. Here are my choices for the best Katy Perry videos.
“Hot n Cold” has received a lot of airplay. I listen to music on cable TV and this song is featured a lot. I also hear it in restaurants. Although it’s a techno beat song it isn’t quite so bad.
What is great about Katy’s videos is that they usually tell a story. It’s also fun to see who the “guests” are in her video moviettes.
“Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)” is a fun little story about a plain-Jane girl whose friend dresses her up for a wild party night. The music is more mainstream while keeping her favorite techno beat. I think the video is pretty cool. I was surprised to see Kenny G rocking away on the table. He really is a great saxophonist. All those sleepy records he made didn’t really prove that.
“Roar” proves that Katy Perry has matured in her musical tastes and choices. This is just an incredible video and I predict it will break all her previous video records. And the techno beat is almost finally gone.
This is the kind of music Katy Perry should have been making all along. It’s a great video, too. I wouldn’t be surprised if someone suggests they make a real movie based on this video.
Way to go, Katy!
